Sooner or later, someone will need to get up on your roof, perhaps the chimney sweep, a tradesperson or you yourself to clear snow. When that happens, there needs to be a safe way up and a secure footing on the roof. Roof safety is about preventing falls and protecting people on the ground from snow and ice sliding off. VOLUX installs roof safety equipment in Stockholm on houses, terraced homes and apartment buildings. We tailor every solution to the roofing material, the pitch and how the roof is used.
Not sure if your roof safety meets today’s requirements? We review the roof and suggest what needs to be added or replaced, with a free quote.
Roof safety products we install
A complete roof safety solution consists of several parts that together create a safe route from the ground up to the chimney and ridge. We install and replace, among other things:
Before
After
Swedish building regulations from the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket) require roofs to be fitted with safety equipment wherever people need to move around, for example for chimney sweeping, maintenance and snow clearing. If there is no safe way up, the chimney sweep can refuse to carry out the work until the shortcomings have been fixed. Just as important is protection below the roof. As a property owner, you are responsible if snow or ice from your roof injures someone. That’s why snow guards are needed above entrances, walkways and parking areas. Many older roofs have safety equipment that has rusted, come loose or was never suited to the roofing material in the first place. We check the fixings and replace anything that is no longer safe.
Installing roof ladders, roof walkways, snow guards and other roof safety equipment on your own home counts as work on the property and qualifies for the ROT tax deduction. The deduction applies to the labour, while the products themselves are paid in full. This applies both when you add to an existing solution and when you replace the entire system.
Housing associations and other property owners cannot use the ROT deduction, but their responsibility is all the greater. The association is liable for ensuring that residents, visitors and passers-by are not injured by snow falling from the roof. It also needs to make sure tradespeople and chimney sweeps can work safely. We’re happy to help the board review its needs and prioritise the measures.

FAQ
It is rarely possible to tell from the ground. Moss and the odd broken tile can usually be fixed, but if the underlay has become brittle or moisture has reached the roof boarding, a replacement is often the better long-term option. We’re happy to come out and assess your roof, and we’ll give you an honest answer about the most sensible way forward.
Yes, if you own the property and the work counts as repair, maintenance or renovation. This includes roof replacement, re-roofing and most repairs. The deduction applies to the labour cost and is deducted directly from the invoice. Housing associations (BRF), however, cannot use the ROT deduction for work on the association’s roof.
With a complete re-roofing, you receive a 30-year watertight roof warranty. For other types of work, the warranty is stated in the quote and the contract, so you know exactly what applies before the work begins. The manufacturers’ product warranties also apply to the materials we install.
