A roof that has become faded, stained or started to show rust doesn’t always need replacing. With professional roof painting, the surface can regain both its protection and its appearance, for a fraction of the cost of a new roof. VOLUX carries out roof painting in Stockholm on metal roofs and concrete tile roofs, for both homeowners and housing associations. The result depends largely on the preparation, and we put just as much care into that as into the painting itself.
Wondering if your roof can be painted? We assess it on site and give you an honest answer, along with a free quote. We paint roofs in Stockholm and Mälardalen.
From cleaning to a freshly painted roof
Durable roof painting consists of several steps that must be carried out in the right order and in the right weather conditions. The work includes:
Before
After
A freshly painted surface protects metal against rust and makes concrete tiles less likely to absorb moisture. This extends the lifespan of the roof and postpones the need for a roof replacement. Painting also gives the house a lift, and it’s a good opportunity to change colour if you want to give your home a new look. However, roof painting requires a roof that is fundamentally sound. If the tiles are heavily weathered, the metal has rusted through or the underlay has reached the end of its life, the paint only hides the problems for a while. We don’t normally paint clay tile roofs, as the clay needs to be able to breathe. Painting is carried out in dry weather and at suitable temperatures, usually between spring and early autumn.
Roof painting counts as maintenance of your home, so the labour cost qualifies for the ROT tax deduction if you own the house. This covers both the painting itself and the preparatory steps that are part of the painting work. Paint, rust protection and other materials are paid in full.
For the paint to last as long as the manufacturer promises, the surface must be properly prepared. That’s why we list every step included in the quote, from cleaning to the final coat. This shows you both what the work involves and how the deduction affects the cost.

FAQ
It is rarely possible to tell from the ground. Moss and the odd broken tile can usually be fixed, but if the underlay has become brittle or moisture has reached the roof boarding, a replacement is often the better long-term option. We’re happy to come out and assess your roof, and we’ll give you an honest answer about the most sensible way forward.
Yes, if you own the property and the work counts as repair, maintenance or renovation. This includes roof replacement, re-roofing and most repairs. The deduction applies to the labour cost and is deducted directly from the invoice. Housing associations (BRF), however, cannot use the ROT deduction for work on the association’s roof.
With a complete re-roofing, you receive a 30-year watertight roof warranty. For other types of work, the warranty is stated in the quote and the contract, so you know exactly what applies before the work begins. The manufacturers’ product warranties also apply to the materials we install.
